On Aug. 1, the research group of “Research on Transformation of Agricultural Development Mode under the New Situation of Grain Supply-demand Variation”  for Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development was invited to attend the seminar of “National High-end Think Tank Agricultural Field” project held by the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The conference was hosted by academician Liu Xu, the vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. More than 40 people, including the academician Shen Guofang, academician Gai Junyi, academician Tang Huajun, Wang Zhonglin, the former head of Heilongjiang provincial Agriculture Committee, Chu Ruiyun, deputy director-general of the Agriculture Department of Hunan province, Zhu Baoping, deputy head of Agriculture Committee of Jiangsu province and division head Xiao Yanchuan, Wang Dongyang, Wang Jimin and Wang Xiudong, separately the director, deputy director and deputy head of Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as well as other members of the research group attended the conference. 　
　　　At the meeting, the researcher Wang Xiudong made a detailed report on the progress of “Research on Transformation of Agricultural Development Mode under the New Situation of Grain Supply-demand Variation” for the major project of “National High-end Think Tank” agricultural field undertaken by the Chinese Academy of Engineering on behalf of the research group. The paper focused on the analysis of new situation of grain supply and demand in the world and our country, summarized the rules and characteristics of agricultural development mode at different grain supply and demand stages in our country, put forwards new requirements to the transformation of agricultural development mode in our country due to the new situation of grain supply and demand, and proposed the general idea and development path for the transformation of agricultural development mode as well as the major projects and countermeasures on this basis. The expert group fully affirmed the progress and breakthrough of the reported contents compared with the earlier research, and put forward the valuable advice on the further improvement.
　　　The important research projects of “national high-end think tank” are to thoroughly apply the important instruction spirits of general secretary Xi Jinping about think tank construction, conscientiously implement “Opinion of Strengthening the Construction of New Think Tank with a Chinese Characteristic” , and are established by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and National High-end Think Tank Council according to the national important strategic demands. It’s expected that the project achievement of “Research on Transformation of Agricultural Development Mode under the New Situation of Grain Supply-demand Variation” for “National High-end Think Tank” major projects of the Chinese Academy of Engineering undertaken by Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences can give helpful references to the government for their policy making.
