At the invitation of Mr. Knut Øistad, the Head of the Division of Food Production and Society of Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO), Prof. Li Xiande and Dr. Sun Zhilu from the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development (IAED) of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), visited the NIBIO at Oslo of Norway from June 23th to June 30th, 2019.

　　Prof. Li Xiande’s research team is currently undertaking the “Work Package (WP) 5: Research on agro-tech extension and household adoption of precision agricultural technology and its economic, social and environmental effects” of the China-Norway International Cooperation Project “SINOGRAIN II: Technological Innovation to support environmentally-friendly food production and food safety under a changing climate - opportunities and challenges for Norway-China cooperation” (2018-2022). Our delegation had in-depth discussions and exchanges with Professor Jihong Liu Clarke, the Coordinator of SINOGRAIN II, and Mr. Knut Øistad, the Norwegian PI of WP5 of SINOGRAIN II, on related issues of SINOGRAIN II and WP5. Our delegation watched the agricultural technology extension activities jointly conducted by NIBIO and its partners at a community farm, and also visited NIBIO’s bioenergy laboratory and precision agricultural equipment and facilities at NIBIO’s Apelsvoll Research Center.

　　At the invitation of Mr. Nils Vagstad, the Director General of NIBIO, Prof. Li Xiande made an academic report entitled “China’s Agricultural and Rural Development and Prospect Outlook”, which gave a detailed introduction to the basic situation of China’s agriculture and rural areas, domestic and foreign agricultural markets and trade, China’s agricultural policies and challenges faced by China’s agriculture and rural areas. Our delegation exchanged views with Mr. Nils Vagstad and government officials of the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture and Food, on agricultural economic and trade cooperation between China and Norway, market structure of China’s agricultural imports, changes in the cost of agricultural production in China and other issues. Mr. Knut Øistad, Mr. Einar Strand, Senior Adviser of NIBIO, Mr. Till Seehusen, Research Scientist of NIBIO, and Mr. Krzysztof Kusnierek, Research Scientist of NIBIO, introduced agriculture and agricultural policies in Norway, the overview of NIBIO, agricultural extension services in Norway and precision agriculture in Norway respectively. Our delegation exchanged views with NIBIO’s researchers.
