Recently, Badly Necessary to Push Forward the Step of Grain-saving and Depletion written by Professor Jiang Heping and Doctor Jiang Hui was reprinted by UNFAO was reprinted by UNFAO after being translated. This article was published on Oct. 8, 2015 on IAED website, which has been reprinted by Journal of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Chinese Science News and Journal of Grain and Oil Market. It greatly affected the whole society. After being read by Wang Ren (the assistant director-general of FAO and ex-vice president of IAED), it was recommended as experience for calling for food-saving proposed by UNFAO. This article is quite practical and has grate academic value, which can play in important role in saving food and guaranteeing food security in China. Badly Necessary to Push Forward the Step of Grain-saving and Depletion is a periodical research achievement made by the key project (study on national food security based on the view of reformation, study code: 14ZDA041) of National Social Science Funds in 2014 (the project was hosted by Professor Jiang Heping). In the article, it mainly introduces the food wastes at the time of grain harvesting, grain storage, grain transportation and excessive processing of grains, as well as the grain wastes resulted in by catering industry. Apart from the problems, the article also proposes policies and suggestions for solving the problems, like enhancing the emphasis on food saving, establishing systems, invest more strength on construction, promoting technologies and consolidate the sense of consuming grains etc. The project “Save Food”, sponsored by UNFAO and Messe Dusseldorf, was targeted to get more abilities from the government, research organizations, NGO and private enterprises to save the food in terms of sense, technology and policy. People in charge of the project,in the name of research group at a national level, has sent out invitation to Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, especially IAED, hoping Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, especially IAED can join the contact list of Save Food to introduce China’s experience in saving food and enhance the cooperation and communication on food saving.
