A Researcher Li Xiande Attended the Technical Seminar in Asia of United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
From August 13 to 15, 2013, at the invitation of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Li Xiande, a researcher in our Institute and Chen Yangfeng, an assistant researcher headed from Thailand to participate in the Technical Seminar in Asia of United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
This technical seminar is aimed to discuss the main content of Voluntary Guidelines of Responsible Administrative in the Ownership of Land, Fishery and Forest Within the Scope of National Food Security (hereinafter referred to as “Voluntary Guidelines”), analyze the application of this Voluntary Guidelines in Asian countries and the challenges they are faced with and explore the actions and ways of further promoting Voluntary Guidelines and improving the ownership management of land, fishery and forest. Those who were present at this technical seminar were representatives from the 20 Asian countries, 90 members from establishments, such as, FAO, World Bank, FIG (Fédération internationale des Géométres), Forestry Training Center in Asia-Pacific Region Community, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Our delegation participated entirely in the technical seminar of Voluntary Guidelines, introduced to all parties present the important progress China has made in the registration of ownership, land circulation, the revision of land administration law, and put forward some suggestive opinions, such as, “grasping the phased key work”, “strengthening the exchange of experience among Asian countries”, “the promoting of implementation of rule in accordance with local conditions” and “intensifying the domestic spreading in all countries”, which won high recognition from all parties concerned and demonstrated a good image as a responsible great country.
On May 11, 2012, Voluntary Guidelines was approved by the 38th (special) session of Committee Meeting on World Food Security. As a representative of the Chinese government, the researcher in our Institute participated entirely in the multi-round negotiations and consultations.
During the meeting, all the representatives present inspected the small-scale land intensive use pilot in lat bua luang, a city in Thailand and the pilot of rice seed breeding based on good agricultural practices. Besides, they made an in-depth special topic discussion in four aspects, namely, the land ownership, fishery ownership, forest ownership and gender equality.
