on October 14, on the INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON  APPLIED    SYSTEM     ANALYSIS——Rehearsing   Strategic Program Related to   Cross   Cutting  Issues    for  Sustainable   Agriculture  held in Jakarta, indonesia, the researcher Zhu Li-zhi, the director of resources and environmental economy Research office in the Agricultural Economy and Social Development Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, on invitation, delivered a keynote report entitled “China’s Practice and Strategic Vision of Sustainable Development of Chinese Agriculture”.

This report comprehensively expounded the attainment and good practice China has made in the maintenance of agricultural sustainable development, such as, the   continuous increase in grain production and farmers income, steadily raising the utilization ratio of agricultural resources, unceasingly stepping up the agricultural ecological protection and improvement of rural living environment. Moreover, it also elaborated what is the agricultural sustainable development path with Chinese characteristics in terms of the development path, development goals, development steps and connotation, et al. According to the report, despite many achievements China has made in agricultural sustainable development, it is still confronted with severe challenges. therefore, we must balance the quality and quantity of resources and give full consideration to the bearing capacity of the ecological environment. While planning the production, we shall pay due attention to the underground productivity. We cannot lay particular stress on investment but should attach great importance to the material cycle of the system, to partition “rest and build up strength” in order to pursue the overall development effect and, at the same time, to deal with the utilization of domestic and foreign resources. Moreover, we shall not pursue one-sidedly “grain of arable land” but develop new principle of “three-dimensional grain”. in addition, the researcher Zhu Li-zhi also puts forward main tasks of sustainable development in the utilization of agricultural resources, agricultural environment management and the agricultural ecological construction and key security measures.
