On October 23, on China, Japan and South Korea Joint Symposium held in tottori, Japan, Sun Huilin, an associate research fellow in the Agricultural Economy and Social Development Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, on invitation, presented an academic report entitled the Challenge Faced by Chinese Household Farming and Countermeasures.

The report introduced the evolution of Chinese agricultural management system since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the development of household management, analyzed the challenges faced by Chinese household farming under the background of economic globalization and put forward the subjects warranting research and discussion in terms of household management. According to the report, China, Japan and South Korea were confronted by such problems as small scale, weak competitiveness and the “aging” problem of labor force. From the point of the situation in China, the future agricultural development must adhere to household management and promote its development towards family farm and big-specialized-households of crop and animal productions by means of acceleration of land transfer and perfection of socialized service system, thereby improving agricultural productivity and market competitiveness and realizing agricultural economy of scale.

China, Japan and South Korea Joint Symposium is held annually in October by Research Institute of Japanese tottori University and academic exchange concerning problems mainly on Northeast Asian agricultural and rural economic development are conducted. to date, it has been held for 11 times consecutively.
