Associate professor Lv Kaiyu was invited to participate in the “I4 index insurance Innovation” international Conference

During May 13-14, I4 index insurance Innovation” Conference which is sponsored by the America University of California, Davis was held in Rome Italy. Research Lv Kaiyu of China Institute of Agricultural Economics and rural development academy development research associate was invited to attend the meeting.

I4 is the abbreviation of “index insurance Innovation initiative” which is hosted by the Dr. Michael Carte of America University of California, Davis, aimed to research the partially solution method of the poverty and food insecurity caused by uninsurable risks through index insurance tools to decentralized risk faced by smallholder farmers. The agenda of the meeting is divided into six parts: I4 plan progress, group insurance and contract design, insurance index, behavior economic visit, insurance demand, reinsurance Round-table conference.

The conference invite many industrial experts and scholars from international institutions and schools which including World Food Programme (WFP), international Labor Organization (ILO), international Fund for Agricultural Development(IFAD), IFPRI, USAID, Swiss Reinsurance Company, Yale University,  Cornell University, University of California at Davis , University of California at Berkeley, niversity of Athens, University of Namur, Université Paris 1 Panthéon, Université d’Auvergne, Clermont-Ferrand et al.

The meeting introduced the latest developments of insurance index, and also discussed that through the Introduction of index products, further to bring former insurable risk into the category of insurance, through product Innovation to reduce rate of agricultural insurance, expand the agricultural insurance coverage, which takes positive and important enlightenment for the better development of China's policy for agricultural insurance.
