On Apr. 15, kick-off meeting for the consulting services of key project “Study on Sustainable Development of State Regional Food Security under Internationalization and Greenization” was held in Beijing. The meeting was hosted by Lu Xu (academician, deputy president of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the project team leader), with over 50 attendees including Gai Junyi (vice project team leader), Yin Weilun (academician), Deng Xiuxin (academician), Chen Jianping, Shan Lun, Liu Guanglin, Li Zhaohu, Chen Daiwen and other academicians and experts. Being as a support for the project and the undertaker, representatives from IAED also joined the meeting, including Wang Jimin (deputy director), Wang Xiudong (researcher), Liu Jing(researcher), Zhong Yu (deputy researcher), Song Lili (deputy researcher) and Post-doctor Yan Yan etc.
　　　On the meeting, Liu Xu introduced the research background and general thought of the project “Study on Sustainable Development of State Regional Food Security under Internationalization and Greenization”. For this project, there are several group teams (Northeast group team, North China group team, southeast coast group team, northwest group team, southwest group team, group team of transformation of modern agriculture and group team studying development trend) and a general team. On the meeting, each group team introduced their own implementation proposals in terms of research target, research content, technical route, research study, expected result, research plan and participators etc. All the academicians and experts attended the meeting had a discussion on how to perfect the implementation and how to deal with the problems encountered in the future study.
　　　On the meeting, Liu Xu made a conclusion, he said that first of all, scientific decisions shall be supported by scientific consulting; strategic consulting shall be well managed, when working on the project, to be honest and innovative, trying to make the project be a reference for others and influence other projects; second, when doing the study, new ideas and new methods shall be used, set up a view of food, it is necessary for us to consider the food security, nutrition security, industrial security and ecological security in the view of overall industrial chain; third, well master the three different concepts of the food security under new era ---entire allocation of food security shall be highlighted, make sure“sticking to our own game, pay attention to domestic market, guarantee the production capacity and to be supported by science and technology”; key tasks related to food security shall be highlighted, make sure “food are absolutely safe and grains can be self-supplied basically”; industrial safety shall be highlighted, make sure “our ‘rice bowl’ shall be in our own hands and the ‘rice bowl’ shall mainly have our own grains”; fourth, when working, each group team shall learn from others and insist on their own features; when researching, do a general analysis and stress the key points, pay attention to innovation and risk analysis on strategic consulting proposals shall be done.
