Wang Xiudong (group leader of Technical Team) etc. went to Fiji to do inspection and acceptance for the project “China Assists North Island Fiji --- Technical Assistance for Agricultural Development”

     From Dec. 15 - 24, 2016, being entrusted by Ministry of Commerce,Xiudong Wang, the group leader of Technical Team, went to Fiji to do the inspection and aspection for the project “China Assists North Island Fiji -- Technical Assistance for Agricultural Development” together with the acceptance team (including Li Hongtao, deputy director of FECC Office and Doctor Li Jing).
     The acceptance team successfully fulfilled their tasks. Besides, the acceptance team had a meeting with Jitendra Singh (an officer at a vice-ministerial level, the representative of Business Office of Chinese Embassy in Fiji, representative from Fiji National Agricultural Research Institution and permanent secretary of Ministry of Agriculture of Fiji) and other officers. Jitendra Singh highly praised the long-term support and assistance given by Chinese government for Fiji’s agricultural development on behalf of Fiji government; also, he sang high praise to the achievements made by North Island Agricultural Development and sincerely appreciated the diligence and contributions made by the Technical Team. He pointed out that this project not only enhances the rice yield and mechanical application but also perfect producers’ production skills. In the future, Fiji will strengthen the cooperation with China, hoping that the second phase of this project can be started as soon as possible. He said that Fiji government sincerely hopes that we can still make great achievements in agriculture and China can hugely help Fiji to enhance the rice assurance.
    Business Office of Chinese Embassy in Fiji also presented the satisfaction to this project. Especially that the Business Office made some great achievements when holding Handover Ceremony of Agricultural Machinery and inviting the president of Fiji to visit the project. Anyway, the project won a good reputation of the local people. However, in the future, it is mandatory to work harder in project propaganda and internal management etc.
    This project (“China Assists North Island Fiji -- Technical Assistance for Agricultural Development”) was authorized and signed by Ministry of Commerce on Nov. 15, 2014. On Nov. 29, 2014, CSI and Ministry of Agriculture of Fiji officially signed the Implementation Contract for the project. In this Contract, it is set that the project is to be valid for 2 years, from Jan. 1, 2015 to Dec. 31, 2016. Project content: 6 Chinese technicians and experts are to be sent to Fiji for two years, who are going to work on rice breeding, planting demonstration and technical promotion; meanwhile, these technicians and experts will give training to Fiji’s technicians. Fiji will arrange 10 officers from Ministry of Agriculture and senior technicians to China to join the training (Training on Rice Development and Production Management) for 15 days; China will provide some agricultural devices and small-sized tools which are applicable for the local production; 4 experts will be sent to the production site for 30 days, who are going to help with the after-sales services like equipment installation, debugging, usage and maintenance etc. If it is approved by Party A and the items are covered by the assistance funds, Party A will provide Party B with some fixed assets according to the actual situation, including traffic tools, special equipment, life facility and office facility etc. By fund assistance, material donation and technical training, it tries to cultivate a group of technicians who not only well know about agriculture techniques but also have operation abilities. In this way, comprehensive strength in producing rice will be greatly enhanced in Fiji and Fiji will set up a complete system for agricultural promotion.
